Jacq Molloy

 

Writer & Creative Writing Tutor

Jacq was born in Belfast, raised in an Australian country town and has been happily resident in East Sussex for eighteen years.  She is a performed playwright and has written and directed three short films and had a short piece broadcast on HBO Television. Her prose has been shortlisted and placed in various competitions, including Mslexia magazine and at Winchester University's Writing conference.

 In 2011 she won the Frome Festival Short Story Prize. In 2014 she placed second in Words with Jam first page competition. Her short story 'Offcuts' was  published in  2015 in an Australian anthology 'The Memory of Clothes.' Also published in 2015 was her short story 'Wake' in The Needlewriters Anthology. Upcoming publications include her short story 'In a Heartbeat' - due out this summer in The Brighton Prize Anthology. She is currently working on a collection of short stories.

She is an experienced Creative Writing tutor who teaches for the Open University, South Street Art Studios and Sussex Downs College. She also  mentors individual writers, provides writing critiques and runs her own courses.  

Jacq is also an accredited Writing Coach through NAWE (National Association of Writers in Education).

In her other lives she has been a theatrical lighting designer, drama tutor and meat packer in an abbatoir. She has a degree in Drama and English, Diploma in Theatre Arts and a Masters in Creative Writing from The University of Sussex. She dreams of her perfect writing space but until she finds it makes do with writing wherever she can.
